Rachael – that’s an average, but of course the percentage of increases for different items varies.

Leighton – the story is different with each. A couple/few emails were exchanged with the first two, but interest was very vague and ended basically in “don’t call us, we’ll call you” – and it’s been around six months now. Icelandair just gave a flat “no, not interested, but if you put up google ads chances are our ad will appear there.” Yay.

Looking at today’s headlines… inflation at 17.1%, that’s scarily high. Is that across the board, or are certain specific things increasing in price faster/higher than others? And the unemployment numbers have gone up by over 100% – that’s just what people need at this time of year, to be made jobless. Not that there’s ever a good time for it to happen

I like the “sponsors” section… it’s always good to find new, interesting stuff on the Web!

Apart from the usual tasteless ads for Viagra, Levitra, Botox, mood elevators and de-elevators, growth hormones and appetite suppressors, there’s also the possiblity of something even more tasteless. Many college newspapers in the US run large ads for “EGG DONORS WANTED”, with prices going up to $100,000 for healthy tall white women with high test scores and no family history of schizophrenia. Maybe some egg-collectors would be interested in running ads. After all, Icelanders are taller and smarter than average and now many will have plenty of time to sit around and, um, produce eggs. If you were to lower (or better yet, eliminate) your standards of human decency, there are all sorts of possibilities!
(By the way, the Nebraska law was changed to lower the age-limit for child-recycling. But one woman managed to drive across the country and dump her teenage son before the deadline. Ah, what a country!)
