And so, The Guardian calls the Central Bank’s e-mail ‘sinister’

by alda on December 23, 2008

Thereby once again changing my original title. Sigh.

Yep, it’s strike three for YT in The Guardian’s Comment is Free section.* And once again they added a heading and sub-heading that aren’t mine and are far more silly than anything I would ever write.

Ah well. Since last time I’ve learned that they do pay, and not too badly either. Enough, at least, to appease our YT. I mean, what’s an inane heading or two between friends … right?

IT’S GEARING UP FOR YET ANOTHER STORM
We had one last night, then it calmed down a bit, now it’s again starting to blow pretty hard. I don’t mind – if we’re not going to have a white Christmas, at least we get some drama. Just hoping it will calm down tomorrow before late afternoon so I can meet my clan at the cemetery.

[PS - thank you for all your delightful birthday wishes. I've had a great day with my lovely family and friends!]

Well done! I would not have thought to use a word like “sinister” (From northern Minnesota where we have a half meter of snow and temps from -30C all the way up to -7C). And a belated happy birthday!

I hope you were able to have a happy birthday. Did you do anything interesting on the day, by the way?

Happy Birthday!

And many many more, with love and friends around all of your life.

bles! hope to visit niceland again, where a lot of people have relaxed attitudes apart from creeps like oddson and his ilk of course.

Happy Birthday to you and Merry Christmas tomorrow.

Interesting article about the central bank (Yes I read the Guardian Cif version),

I admit that I know very little about Iceland, apart from Byork (Great singer, shame about the Swan outfit), iceland’s vulcancity and Die Another Day. Then the Sub-prime iceberg (sic) struck.

Any chance of future blogs about Byorgolfur Gudmudsson. As a lifelong fan of West Ham United, I would like to know how he values the club at £250m.

I’m glad to learn that the Guardian do pay you, Alda. Comment may be free, but there are limits…

Happy belated birthday! And have a very happy Christmas – that goes to everyone else too :)

Well, I didn’t think the new heading and subheading was so bad. (I would have preferred something like, “In midst of nation crisis, the Rocket Scientists at the CIB focus policy – on chasing down internet flamers”.) You have to expect your commentaries and letters-to-the-editor to get mutilated, especially if they pay money.
I hope you will submit more articles to the Guardian, perhaps a small sampling of the gross stupidity and corrupt behavior of the “ruling elite” in Iceland. I imagine that you and many other Icelanders are tired of hearing and talking about the banana-republic-isms, and the details of the Enron-Madoff-Ponzi scheme that was the Icelandic banking sector, but it would “help” (if any help is possible) if more foreigners knew more of the appalling facts.

Gleðileg Jól and Happy Birthday (is it something like “til hamingju með afmælið” in Icelandic)?

And keep the CB staff busy watching by adding more articles to the Guardian.
