And check out some of those comments below it. Good thing I’ve had lots of practice developing a thick skin.
For the record, I didn’t think it was much of a story, but they commissioned it anyway — a story about it not being a story. Also — need I say it? — the heading and subheading are not mine.
UPDATE: Oops, posted this in a rush and then went out … it was the wrong link, but all fixed now!
THERE’S A STORM BREWING
Apparently they’re going to take the heaviest hit up on the West Fjords, but there’s a pretty fierce wind that has just set in here, too. Happily it’s relatively mild, right now 7°C [45F]. The sun came up at 6.42 am, due to set at 8.22 pm.

Did you mean to link to this story? :
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/apr/02/iceland-oil
The link doesn’t go to the guardian, it goes to your earlier post on this blog. is the artikels addresse.
hey Alda, think that the link isn´t working or else I am just super duper dumb. Anywho, as to the whole rockall thing… it really isn´t surprising. Given the way that things have been going for Iceland I would find it most surprising if the brits would allow us to find oil and actually exploit it without a fight about it. Afterall, they need us to pick on up here in the north whilst they still try to maintain some semblance of the old empire with their G20 cronies.
As you said yourself, it didn’t hold much info. But what can you do if they commission it anyway? They are the client.
Reading the comments I’m having flashbacks of IWR of a few weeks ago when comments were still unmoderated. Found it more shocking what one of the staff writers wrote though. I thought The Guardian had more ‘style’ than that.
Grif – which one?
This sentence is a comment on blog article about another blog article about a non-story. It has allowed me to draw my mind inward, away from all distractions and enabled me to focus on an empty object of meditation. And, for that, I thank The Guardian…
Guardian readers are typical of, well, Guardian readers; and very little else, IMHO

Hi Alda, I am the Usini who posted on your article in the Guardian. In the summer I taught at King’s School Bournemouth. I had a great time with lots of Icelandic kids. If any of them read your blog or if you know any of them or their parents I’d just like to say hi and thanks.
Hi Peter – was it EFL? I taught one summer in Ramsgate – so much fun!
The Irish are also submitting a claim after the Scots apparently prevented an agreement between Brits and Icelanders…

Alda,
I was (mainly) referring to the one from ‘mattseaton’.
errm … that a lot of [self censored] people have too much spare time and use easy targets to vent their frustrations?
hmm…seems I still have problems quoting in wordpress.
Ment to indicate that the quote came from Alda @ CiF …
