In support of good news about Iceland

by alda on February 17, 2010

I just want to give a quick shout-out to a group of people who have been making a film about the financial crisis in Iceland and are trying to raise funds to finish it.

The film is called The Future of Hope and they’ve launched it on Kickstarter, where they’ve also posted a trailer.*

The director of the film, Henry Bateman, and its producer Heather Millard moved to Iceland in June last year to make a documentary about “the positive and inspirational developments in sustainable businesses, lifestyle and ideas to come out of Iceland since the economy crash.”

Read more about the film here — and also what you get if you choose to become a backer. You can also become a fan on Facebook.

[* Somehow the trailer doesn't play well for me -- I hope you have better luck.]

I am concerned about Hope too. I think Iceland will teach us that there is life beyond the credit swap derivative and the financial meltdown. Here in the U.S. few people know what’s coming, or so it seems to me. I think I am in synchronistic harmony with the moviemakers. Today I bought some light, white nylon cloth to make into peace flags; tall, narrow flags, like buddhist prayers. I will try to come up with news ideas too.

I’m glad you wrote about this Alda. I was thinking of posting it earlier this week to the forum, then thought I should ask as it is soliciting funds. The same thing crossed my mind when I posted something at the forum around the holidays about Silver Lining Charity. Even if it seems like these are good causes, this your blog and I keep meaning to look around the forum to see if you have any guidelines about promoting organizations there that are soliciting funds. I did post it up to the IWR Facebook group and hope that was ok.
