So, the Icelandic national under-21 football team [men’s!] beat Scotland this evening 2-1, which means Iceland is headed to the u-21 European Championships for the first time ever in the history of the republic.
According to EPI there are all these young and talented footballers coming up in Iceland now because around five years ago Iceland got its first indoor arena, so now they can train all year round — as opposed to just in the summer, as before.
Just thought I’d pass on that little bit of trivia that EPI was kind enough to share this evening.
Also? Ronaldo is in town, or so AAH tells me. [Apparently young Icelandic females are seriously losing their cool over that one.] [Although I hasten to say that AAH is not one of them.] [In fact she cringed when she described some of the escapades engaged in by members of her own sex.] [But is still kind of thrilled .]
She couldn’t believe that this highly significant chunk of information had bypassed her mother, who up until half an hour ago was blissfully ignorant of the fact that Iceland plays Portugal tomorrow — about four kilometres from our house.
