So, as some of you have already alluded to, a poll conducted yesterday [Friday] shows that the Best Party continues to increase its substantial following and would get a clear majority on the Reykjavík city council if elections were held today.
People: I cannot tell you how significant this is.
This is the people of Reykjavík giving the Independence Party, the Social Democratic Alliance, the Progressive Party and even the Left Greens a big, fat finger.
Indeed, Egill Helgason speculates on his blog today that the only thing that could possibly kill the Best Party’s momentum is if Davíð Oddsson publicly announced his support for it.
Here I thought these elections were going to be the most boring elections of my life. But hey – they just became a helluva lot more interesting. Even if that “interesting” does involve a certain amount of fatalism, cyncisim and “to hell with it all”.
