Announcing our new eBook!

As some of you may recall, when I decided to stop writing this blog last October I claimed I was just about ready to launch a new eBook.

For various reasons it’s taken a bit more time than I initially thought; however, it is FINALLY ready now. Huzzah!

It’s called The Little Book of the Icelanders, and you can read all about it here.

When I launched the last eBook, many readers asked whether I could make it available in ePub, which would allow it to be read on most eReaders. I didn’t have the foggiest idea of how to do that then, but was resolved to learn how to do it this time around.

I had to learn from scratch, which is one of the reasons why it’s taken so long to launch this baby. However, it does mean that the new book is available in two different formats: PDF and ePub. When you download the file and save it to your computer, you’ll receive both files in a zipped folder.

[You can read more about the work involved in producing the book here.]

As for Yours Truly, I’ve gone back to school and am now a full-time university student. [That’s another reason why this has taken so long.] It’s definitely been “an experience” and, believe me, I am sometimes itching to write posts about it [I have written about my experiences with Academia in the past], but time constraints make that kind of difficult at the moment. Maybe later.

Anyway, you can download a sample of the new eBook by going here, you can read more about it here, and you can purchase it by clicking on the button below.

Thank you – and happy reading!

Actually, Alda, epub files cannot be read on the Kindle. Kindle uses another format, called mobi. But the program you used to create an epub can almost certainly be used to create a mobi file also. In fact I think Kindle is the only ereader that can’t read epub, certainly the only major one.

And btw, sorry, congratulations on the new book.

James – thank you for pointing that out! Shall be corrected forthwith.

    congratulations Alda!!

I too am in the process of writing out a baby, which is why all my photography projects are kind of on hold… it’s my first time writing a book so it is a really steep learning curve.

Thank you for taking the trouble to make an ePub version! I just made the purchase and I’m excited to start reading.

Just got it today and really looking forward to reading it.

I was hoping your ebook would have resurrected this blog if only briefly but alas…

This is a book that made me laugh out loud but at the same time exposed human frailties that we all recognise and share. Buy it and
enjoy it. Its sweet taste will stay just like your last Rollo!

Just purchased, downloaded, downloaded Calibre, converted to mobi (all very easy), and now your ebook resides on my Kindle. Looking forward to some fun reading.

I am pleased with the advent of your new book. Also that you should reappear here, and should miss posting on occasion. With all transpiring in Iceland and the world, many surely miss your absence here, if understanding.

    Good luck with your studies.

Congratulations on your new published book! Isn’t the internet wonderful, that you can write a book, and in a short time, allow users to download it, at their leisure?

I wish you only the best with your studies, and it is a great thing to learn more, and provide us all with great insight in the future, after you have been exposed to new and wonderful new things.

  • alda February 21, 2011, 9:56 pm

Thank you Cheryl – and everyone else!

Yes, I do think it’s wonderful that anyone can publish their work now and that it doesn’t have to be subject to the whims of some industry or other, that decides who gets a chance, and who does not. 🙂

    Sæl Alda

Er ekki hægt að kaupa bókina í bókarformi. Mér finnst nefnilega svo leiðinlegt að lesa bækur í tölvu.

  • alda March 24, 2011, 2:51 pm
